PERAN GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI KERJA KARYAWAN
Abstract
The application of a leadership style that is no longer suitable for employees is an urgent problem to be addressed immediately, because it is feared that it can reduce employee motivation which has a negative impact on performance. This problem occurs in the application of leadership styles in the UPT Cooperatives and SMEs in East Java Province. Therefore, the question that will be identified through this research is how the role of the leadership style of the Head of UPT Cooperatives and SMEs in East Java Province in increasing employee motivation.
This study uses a qualitative research approach with descriptive methods. In qualitative research, the data and information obtained from individuals who understand the problem of the research focus are called key informants and co-actors. Three data collection techniques were used, namely in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, as for testing the validity of the data by triangulation.
Based on the results of the study, it shows that positive changes in the application of the leadership style of the head of the UPT Cooperatives and SMEs of East Java Province from the focus/factors studied, including relationships with employees, behavior/exemplary and leadership skills (technical and managerial), can be one of the stimulants in increasing work motivation of UPT Cooperatives and UKM employees in East Java Province. The advice given should be to the UPT Cooperatives and SMEs of East Java Province to increase the intensity in direct involvement with activities/programs in the field and increase self-discipline, sense of responsibility, and commitment to the organization so that they can be used as role models for employees.
